JUNIOR ESTIMATOR

Maclean Brothers Drywall is a growing, family-run business that takes pride in quality workmanship, and understands that our people are our greatest asset. We believe in creating a culture of collaboration and support with our employees. We are currently looking for an experienced estimator.

The Junior Estimator works alongside the Senior Estimator tracking leads, completing takeoffs and drafting quotations. The ideal candidate would be detail and goal oriented; a motivated self starter. Providing organized, professional, and accurate estimates, with the help of the senior estimator are the core components of this role. Construction estimating experience, as well as drywall specific knowledge, would be an advantage, but is not necessary.

Key Accountabilities:

*All below accountabilities are tied to the estimating department as a whole and the Junior Estimator is the front line of this department. This includes managing most communication with possible clients, including RFI's, alternative solutions, requests for feedback, contract review, etc. The Junior Estimator is jointly responsible for:

  • Tracking all incoming leads, including reviewing and organizing by priority

  • Professional communication through all steps of the tender process to ensure our possible clients are aware of our professional approach to business

  • Managing client and vendor CRM software accounts, as well as building estimates and budgets into our own CRM

  • Analyze and compile estimate data that impact the cost of labor, materials, equipment requirements, location, and other factors to ensure high quality and timely estimates.

  • Review drawings, specifications, and proposed project site conditions; record findings and solicit input from field operations to include final project estimate.

  • Review “take off” quantities to ensure the accuracy of data used in estimates. Analyze alternative solutions and construction methods to increase the competitiveness of the bid and the ability to work on multiple estimates simultaneously.

  • Ability to provide valued input, feedback, and creative solutions during pre-construction efforts to help steer cost certainty during the early stages of project program development.

  • Ability to create accurate conceptual budgets as well as detailed final construction document in competitive bid deliveries.

  • Present estimate and participate in bid reviews with senior estimator to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Daily communication within the estimating department

  • Communicate estimate bid information to field operations at pre-construction meetings to ensure a full understanding of the scope and critical means and methods of construction.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Construction Estimating, Engineering, Construction Management or similar degree, or equivalent technical training and/or work experience

  • Preferred experience in Drywall Estimating/Project Management and/or equivalent fieldwork experience

  • 1 year experience in construction estimation (preferably in drywall or a similar field)

  • Excellent computer skills, including but not limited to, MS office, CRM software, Planswift or OST, WinBid, cloud based networks, etc.

Salary is based on experience. Performance based bonuses will be built into the employee agreement as well as bi-annual reviews with an annual raise. Benefits available after 3 months.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $55,000.00 to $65,000.00 /year plus bonuses (based on experience)
